Are you looking for some free family-friendly activities in Lincoln to fill the summer holidays this year? We have you covered. There's so much going on in Lincoln and best of all, there's a huge number of activities that are completely free and we have 12 of them to share with you. So let's get into them...


Bransby Horses


Bransby Horses are open 7 days a week until the start of September, is free to enter and is the perfect place to visit with children. They have space for picnics, a cafe, a play park and family activity trails too. And of course you'll get to meet their rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules!



Summer Kids Club at St Marks


Launching on the 25th July, St Marks are hosting 18 days of fun free activities in their Link Up community space over the holidays. Activities range from animal encounters to singing and dance taster sessions.



Hartsholme Park


Lincoln has some fantastic parks and we've included a few in this rundown. Hartsholme Country Park is located 3 miles from the city and has Victorian landscaped gardens, a large reservoir, woodlands and grasslands. Oh, and the all-important playpark.

Waterside Kids Club


Waterside Shopping centre are hosting a free kids club every Thursday between 12 and 2pm.



Summer Reading Challenge at Lincolnshire Libraries


Simply visiting the library and going wild with choosing which books to take out is a great free activity, but they are also holding a summer reading challenge to keep children's imaginations alive over the holidays. Children taking part in the challenge will receive prizes for every two books read and a certificate and medal for completing the challenge.



Lincoln Castle


Lincoln Castle grounds are free to enter and are perfect for a picnic. This Summer they have the Lucy the Dragon sculpture back and she's come with a new dragon friend called Norman.

Pets at Home: My Pet Pals


Pets at Home will be running My Pet Pals workshops every day from 22nd July until 3rd September. Children will receive activity sheets and a certificate as well as meeting their amazing animals.



Hubbards Hill in Louth


Hubbards Hill is an area of natural beauty; a highly unique glacial overspill channel formed as a result of the last ice age. It's really popular for picnics and has a cafe too.


Cornhill Cove

The popular Cornhill Cove is back again this summer and is a great place to spend some time. They have free mini golf and lots of pop up entertainment including live DJs, science workshops and street theatre.

Lincoln Museum Activity Centre


Play at Lincoln Museum is a free activity centre for children that encourages learning through play. They have plenty of toys, books and activities on offer such as dressing up, coin rubbing and drawing.



Whisby Nature Reserve


Whisby Nature Park is a beautiful area near Lincoln, full of wildlife, walks and trails. There are some fantastic walking routes as well as indoor and outdoor play areas, and a lovely cafe. They are also putting on lots of events this summer.



Visit a Lincolnshire beach


Lincolnshire has a fantastic coastline with lots of beaches to choose from. Spending time at the beach is a great way to spend a day in the holidays. There's a handy run down of 10 of the best beaches to visit in this post here.
